I did one movie with him in 1986. Great guy! Stay in touch when we can now.

You may know him better as Newly on Gunsmoke... wink

Saw it last summer at a weekday afternoon showing, (hadn't been in a movie theater in several years). I liked it; I don't see very many movies because nowadays Hollywood turns out pretty much nothing but garbage. But I gave this one a thumbs up.

A lot of people compare it to No Country for Old Men. Seen both and liked both.
However I think Hell or High Water was better and much more enjoyable. It was
kinda modern day western. Old fashioned good guys and bad guys movie. laugh

I don't know too many old women that would cuss like that though. They might be just that mean and contrary, but they just didn't cuss back then as a matter of course like they do now.

had a great grandmother like that, hell she even killed a colored guy with her shotgun that had come up to the farm. she was taking care of the farm alone during the war (ww1).

Found it on Amazon. It wasn't there a couple of days ago.
Streamed the standard version for $4.99 and it's good for a month.

It's definitely Texas. Olney and Archer City, been there many times. I was hoping for Seymour. Pretty sure there's a bank or two there.

I'm pretty sure all of it was filmed in NM. Mainly Portales.

Didn't mean just filming location, even though I mentioned it. Speaking of the named places. If it was NM however, they went to a lot of trouble to change the highway signs The people and their attitudes were definitely Texas however.

Diner Scene:

Used to be a similar café owner about 90 miles south of here in the middle of no where (Burns Junction, Or). One could look at a menu, but it was best to simply ask what she had.

I grew up in Graham about 30 miles from Olney. It was pretty much like the movie back in the 80's and 90's. A lot of hardcore oldschool type folks and hardworking oil men and ranchers back then made it a pretty solid community and good area to live in. Now that entire area is like a meth mecca...Still some good people around but a lot of drug related crime. Sad to see it go to [bleep]. The area is a little more modernized now than it was back then but a way worse place to live..

Bridges did a good job in that movie. Well worth watching IMO.
