Hank ...
Just like there's more to a scope than the "glass" ... there's more to a rifle than what it does when sending bullets downrange ...
most here are much more discerning of the overall package of a rifle ... which is one of the main reasons so many don't tote Handi-rifles around ...

If I was going to rank the choices you listed, it'd go like this:
Kimber 8400 Remington 700 Ruger 77 ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Tikka Browning That about sums it up for me.

Does the Remington come in LH and 270 WSM?
On that list, for LH rifles, I think his options are Tikka and Browning.

I have 2 Kimber 270 WSM's. One shoots like this at 100yds: The other shoots like this at 200yds: I wouldn't sell either. Since you've shot RH rifles your entire life a Kimber 8400 in 270WSM might be a good reason to keep shooting RH. Either that or I'd wait for them to make lefty's...................DJ

Pugs, what .277 caliber can you get in the 84M? None, You get to jump from .260 to .284. I guess I should have phrased that better. Is the 270 WSM a hard requirement or he willing to flex to other good calibers to save a pound? Of course that would mean changing his user name so maybe it really IS a hard requirement simply for continuity <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Heck, if you care that much about 'pretties', how about a Ruger #1? Falls in your price range, and available in a slew of good calibers. As for me: 'prittyis as prittydoes'. Nothing wrong with a rifle as a tool..and the NEF qualifies. I have a bunch of wrenches, and about as many screwdrivers, and none of them have custom wood...

There's aways Savage for a LH WSM (which may be the ONLY LH WSM option--as far as I know anyway).

I sure don't like how a Savage feels or looks but yet to see a Savage that wouldn't shoot.

So far I like what i been hearing about the Kimber 8400 classic. It's accurate, reliable and it's made in the US. I know that they don't make them in LH but I am willing to stay shooting with RH rifles. Second choice will be Remington 700 CDL or BDL. Third choice will be Tikka T3 Hunter or Deluxe, if i can get it in LH version I will put a muzzle brake. P.S#. I ran into this when i was searching and getting some into from a friend in another forum. http://www.gunbroker.net/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=63630113http://www.gunbroker.net/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=63630442 but i think they are overpriced.

Wild, All of the guns you named are excellent rifles. I am a Browning fan and own a plan A-bolt that i can't find a thing to complain about. It shoots just over a 1/2" group at 100. The new Madallion looks like a piece of furniture. Don't like the finish and don't like the BOSS. But the plain jane a-bolts look and shoot fine.
