I sold my Remington 700 LSS 30-06 for $875. I let the Houge stock go with it.
Now I do not have a 30-06 so I want to replace it.
Somebody tell me about Howa. I really don't like the stocks so I was thinking about getting a barreled action and putting it in a Houge stock.
Looks like $525 so I keep $350 in my pocket.
So, how accurate do they tend to be and how are the triggers?

The couple I have had shot really well after I put a better stock on them with timney triggers as well.

The couple I have had shot really well after I put a better stock on them with timney triggers as well. Well, the Timney is $120 so that's not bad. Still keeping a good bit of $$$ in my pocket.

Howa makes excellent rifles. Look also at Weather Vanguard ...made by Howa.

Is there any real difference between the Vanguard and the Howa? I thought they were identical.

Howa's and Vanguards are the best bang for the buck in a push feed rifle IMO.
The newer ones have two-stage triggers and every one I've used has been excellent. The older ones required a Timney but the newer ones with the two-stage are good to go.
If you're unemployed you can order a Boyds. If you have seasonal work you can get a B&C. If you're rich like the rest of us I'd get a Sako Hunter from McMillan.

My Howa came with a Hogue stock,it is chambered in 223.
I like it.

Wife has a Howa .223 that is really accurate. The only thing I have shot out of it has been Fiocchi 50 grainers.
I really like the two stage trigger too.

I had no idea HS was inletting for the Howa.
But that price I can't see bothering with it. They only have one pattern.
