Tom....raining here now and we have maybe 4-6" left in most places. I heard they had upwards of 24" up north and was hoping it was going down for the sake of the deer. I was up there this past weekend and it didn't seem bad at all. Duluth area and a bit north.

I have blooming daffodils, grass greening up, Bradford pear trees in my neighbor's yard is blooming. Most days lately have been averaging 60 something degrees and we have had an 80 degree day. It is unusual for this time of year but seems that Spring is peeking around the corner.

Spring is around the corner here too Stan. We're supposed to get 0-148" snow tomorrow. The weather man hasn't decided.

People at the hospital were acting like the world might end or something. How about just leave for work early and Friday, drive slower, and STFU and do your job like an adult????

It's quite comical here as well. People are already planning NOT to come to work. Really? From snow? They're snowflakes, they'll blend right in.

My youngest son is taking the day off from work to go snowboarding at Afton and hopes for the high side of your range of snow!

I don't know if this is going on at all stores, but the Wal-Mart I work at in Lakeville is clearing out all their camo clothing, gun cases, and Scent Blocker stuff. Good time to pick up a good deal. Many some camo for spring turkey?

No just seasonal clearance. They're switching over to to their spring/summer modulars.

Gun cases were as low as $5.00. Outerwear as low as $7.00 for camo t-shirts. They had camo hooded sweatshirts, but they're getting pretty picked over. You might find some stuff to fit Jack and Kennedy.

I went to my first gun show in over 5 years today. Very disappointing. The show was in Anoka. They also had the show at Pine City this weekend. I wish I'd have driven up there. It had to be better than Anoka. The same observations so many others have talked about. Mostly knife dealers with lots of cheap imported crap. Most of the guns that were there were AR's and others like this. Very few hunting weapons. I did see a Savage Model 99 in 25-35 for $680.00. Bubba put a different home made buttstock on it. It was otherwise in good shape, and being in 25-35, it would have been worth correctly re-stocking it. I was looking for wood-stocked Model 70's. There literally wasn't a single Model 70 anywhere in the show. I was in and out in about 45 minutes. Of course the jerkey, jewelry, and junk guys were there. It was a great show if you wanted to buy a John Deere die cast tractor. Looking for a hunting gun? Not so good.

Except guns anyway.

I found a Model 70 chambered for the hated .270 Winchester. It's been heavily used, but no cracks or anything like that. A junk no-name 3x to 9x on it. I didn't run a bore light down it, but the guy's asking 280 for it. It's rough, but if the bore's good, I'm thinking about picking it up.

Well, it's looking like a new used boat will be following me home soon-maybe this weekend. Should give me plenty of time to get it ready for spawning crappies, sunnies, and the walleye opener. Dealing with some health issues right now and need a good diversion, so outfitting a boat might be just what the Dr. ordered. I'm looking at an 18 foot Sylvan. It will need a trolling motor, and a depth finder for starters. After that, maybe a compass and a radio. Hope to have this purchase completed by the end of the week. Can't wait to dig into whatever boat I end up with, roll up my sleeves and get to work.

My old school curmudgeonly self says there ought to be a good compass on a gimble bracket mounted on the dashboard.
