When you compare one brand against another brand what criteria do you use?
And why?

Brightness/sharpness/quality and most importantly ....price/value for my dollar.

My Pentax DCF/WP 10X50's are so close to Leica's and Swaro's, I couldn't justify the $750-1250 extra for the Euro glass. I only hunt about 15-20 days a year, and with the money I saved, I ordered a lightweight spotting scope (Nikon XL) and a laser rangefinder (Leica 1200).
Maybe to a professional hunter/guide that spends half the year in the field, it's worth it to spend 4 figures on optics, but I really don't think most hunters can easily spot the difference between them and a high quality pair of mid level optics. IMO, too many people buy the European brands just to "name drop" around camp and/or around other hunters.
