I don't believe what I see on government web sites any more than I believe the governments announcements on unemployment levels or percentage of inflation.

I do believe the media will suddenly find increases in unemployment now that Trump is elected. They may even notice inflation. Of course it was always there but they wouldn't report it during a Democratic administration.

Yes...and I am not inclined to believe much of what I read in emails and online forums either.

I blame it on that boredom thing again as they gave me seven days off work and I have finished rebuilding my trailer and cage, it is so bad I have put my hand up to bartending at the local Bowling Club...I don't even bloody well drink!

How many hours do you work during your 7 days on?

I only work a few days a week and generally seem to average thirty-odd hours, which gives me time to go do what I want when I want...but seven days off is just too much of a good thing.

So I thought bugger it, and am going to do something entirely different for a change.

I'm getting close to getting mine.

A couple of flagrant errors in the article:

The SS taxes have always gone straight into the Treasury general fund to be spent. The SS "Trust Fund" contains nothing but Treasury notes (promissory notes) for the SS money that was put in the general fund. SS taxes have always been just another income tax.

2)"Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate."

The so called "Trust Fund" wasn't put into the general fund to be spent (you can't spend IOU's). Johnson just started counting the "Trust Fund" as an asset and part of the general fund to help get his "Great Society" rammed down out throats. The SS "Trust Fund" actually has no value and is counted both as an asset and a liability by the government accountants.
