Sessions did nothing wrong, and did not "cover it up" in any fashion. His meetings and responses are public record. There wasn't any leak of anything, simply someone checked the records.
The Democrat death throes are awfully ugly to watch. But for the sake of a healthy country, it would be a lot better if they were actually better at being the opposition party. Right now, they are endangering the republic.
Hopefully this is just another childish tantrum, but at some point they need to come up with something realistic to worry about and get back to governing.

I never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign. I doubt there's any way they can prove otherwise because even if they prove he met with someone, they can't prove what was discussed. But the truth doesn't even matter because the Democrats will just fabricate a reality that works for them, and then the media will run with it until the conspiracy has a life of it's own. That's there game. And honestly, they have no other play right now. They're outnumbered in every direction. Their chances are slim to none in 2018 of picking up seats. So, they have to play these normal Democrat virtual reality games to inject a narrative in the minds of their millions of useful idiots.

Now Chaffetz and McCarthyare jumping on Sessions I heard Chaffetz give an interview on this a few days ago and he was saying he'd call for some action if more came out about the Russians involvement. He can't walk that back (and probably doesn't want to)

The Republicans better consolidate their feces immediately. Jason Chaffetz and any of the other Republicans bending over backward (and probably frontward) to be "fair" about this need to get a grip on reality RIGHT NOW. If they allow Sessions to be pushed out over this 'fake news' they will not recover. Get them lined up and overcome this failure to communicate.

All of this is a distraction technique to try and siphon off momentum from Trump's speech a couple days ago. They KNOW it was an effective speech and they KNOW they can't block the agenda if Congress actually plays ball. So this is all they have- smoke and mirrors and stalling.
