Shortactionsmaker has put together a package for a new T3X 22-250 with a 1-8" twist barrel. Campfire members can preorder at a very good price. This is a really good deal and if you are interested, read the thread below. He has begun a new thread for preorders.
He's taking good care of us and I'm happy to buy from him.

I tried some years back finding a LH .223 1/8 twist T3 Lite. I thought I found one and ordered it after confirming with the salesman on the phone that it was a 1/8 twist. When I received it, it was in fact a 1/10 twist. I was not happy and never understood why Tikka went backwards with a slower twist.

When Shortactionsmoker announced the 22-250 in LH in 1/8 twist, I didn't really want it as I'm a .223 fan. However, how many times do you see a factory rifle with a 8 twist in 22-250? It's only money, right?

This will be the first time I've seen a factory offering with a 8" twist. I have to say that if you want a 223 with an 8" twist, they have been available. The T3 Hunter (wood stock) comes with an 8" twist. At least, mine did.

Check with Keefer at Eurooptics to see if they have any left in inventory. They were marked down last month.

I have a LH Ruger American Rifle in 22-250 that has a 10" twist barrel. I'm considering turning it into a 250 Savage but haven't shot it enough to make the final decision.

In this day of trying to make some room in the safes it's very tempting to order one of these. If it were walnut/blued most likely would. Kudos for them for doing this.
Wished they could be talked into organizing a group buy on a 17 or 22 Hornet.

Talked to Whittaker yesterday -- was going to pay off my balance on mine but was told it'll be another month as they are just leaving the "continent of multiculturalism."

So, a little more patience.

Because of the 1:8 twist, I'm considering going AI with it for a tad more velocity for the heavies..still a loon I guess.

I'm not sure what the AI will buy you, George, other than less work on brass trimming. Mine is going to be a hunting rig, especially for speed goats. 62 grain TTSX should be big medicine and should move out with authority.

It won't buy much but I did admit to being a loon....I'm not sure I'll do it but as a loon, "AI-ing" is right in those flight-of-ideas wheel house.

BTW, I'm contemplating matte silver or stainless rings. Any suggestions on which or what would be kindly considered.

Well, as a self diagnosed rifle loony, you are free to do most anything to the rifle you wish.

I suspect I'll be going with Warne QD rings or the Talley LW's. Frankly, I can't recall if the rifle will have a standard T3 grooved receiver or if there's something new. Do you currently have anything in mind?

I didn't know the configuration of the receiver either and thus the question.

If you meant scopes, it will be a Bush LRHS; it's use will be as a primary coyote rifle and maybe a deer or two.

The photo shown on Whittaker's website seems to indicate it has a grooved receiver, like the current T3 models. A picatinney rail or Warne/Talley rings for the Tikka rifle should do nicely.

Does this rifle have an indent for a recoil stud for the ring/base units which clamp to these grooves?

I believe it does, just like the original T3.

I like a picatinney rail for the flexibility it gives but the Warne rings allow the scope to sit lower and the recoil stud, fitted in the bottom of the ring, will keep movement to zero. Have you used Talley LW rings? I've not but keep hearing good things about them.

yes, I've used Talleys quite a bit; they have been very good.
