Need one of these for another one of my 1895's. Not looking for 100% condition, would rather have one thats gonna blend in with the gun but not a piece of crap either.

Got this to trade, Lyman 57 SA in really nice condition, amazing how much dust you see on it after the flash goes off huh?

What rifle does a Lyman 57 SA fit?

Ya, maybe your right, I'll probably have to pay twice what they cost nowadays in a couple more months when I need one again.

Forget it guys, I'll find one somewhere. There's supposedly one on the G I've got coming this week so maybe it's a #18 and not a 1A.

What I have may be too new for you, but I'll let you decide. I have a 1956-made 99 that came with an older tang sight. The seller said it was a Lyman model 19 1/2. It has a screw-in aperture, and you can remove the aperture and use it as a ghost sight. It differs from the one in your picture (the old one) in that it has a lever on the left to lock it in position when you raise it, and it has a lot more blue. The dorsal surface is grey where the rifle has been carried, but the sides are still pretty blue.

I have been thinking of replacing this sight, because it doesn't really fit the curve of the wrist of the butt stock on my rifle. It works great, just doesn't look right on my rifle and interferes with my grip on the wrist.

I don't have pix or the gear to take them, unless you want a 35mm photo via snail mail. Want to trade them, with the understanding that either of us can reverse the deal if we don't like what we get?

Carlos, if it's got the lever on the side it is a Lyman model 2A SA.

Seeing as how were on the topic of tang sights, can anyone with the correct catalogs tell me what years these Savage 1899 Parker Hale tangs sights would be period for so I can put them on the correct rifles?

The perfect rifle for the one on the left would be mine. Oh well I guess I'll get a new Marbles instead and rough it up a bit and take a little of the blue off with some lacquer thinner. Grrrr! I'm impatient.
