Hey guys,
I'm pondering a dedicated prairie dog rifle. I'm thinking about a 17 Hornet as I want to see the hits. I'm on the fence about a Ruger vs a CZ. Thoughts?
Also, what's your preferred scope and magnification?
Thanks!

Thanks, Huntsman. I was hoping you'd weigh in.

I was given a CZ Varmint in .17 Hornet for my birthday.
Nice rifle, except for the fact that it would not feed from the magazine.
I took it to town to see the gunsmith and we polished the extractor a bit and now if feeds much better. I have read about feeding issues with the Savage as well.
The chamber is a little rough too, might polish it some if I get around to it.
Kind of disappointed that it would not feed at first, but with that sorted I am back to liking it.
I put a Fullfield II on it, 4.5 to 14.
Nothing against Ruger, just seems like they might get a bit scarce now that they are not making the 77's anymore.
I am MAGA.

4-14 is about right. Don kinda hit that nail on the head... I think 4 x 14 is about as well balanced as a varmint scope can get for most situations, regardless of brand name.

This depends on range - I have 6-20x on my pdog rigs - which is very very nice.
204 is my main round, for long pokes I've done 25-06, 260, and was going to try 243 until that 22-250 fast twist came along.
