A friend has the opportunity to buy a Marlin 1894 in 32-20 that appears to be a very old one. He needs some good info on it before making the deal.
SN 1897##, octagon barrel, straight stock, curved metal butt-plate. It's missing a bit of the original finish but the wood looks good and has only a couple of small chips according to the pics I have.. I have not had opportunity to inspect the mechanics or the bore so no idea just what the condition would be.
Any Marlin collectors here that could give me a base idea of when it was built and what it might be worth? I did find one place on the web that showed in manufactured in 1899. Pics are on my phone and don't have time to get them in here just now.
Thanks!
