My daughter's 20" howa youth stoked with rl26 poked them into some of the best groups I've ever shot. THere's been some question if they will stabilize. They will.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

You guys are killing me with this RL 26/243 talk.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Tried RL26 with the Hornady 105gr HPBT Match, loaded up to 49.5grs of RL26, accuracy was good if not alittle better than RL19, but we're talking groups in the 2's so no use worrying about accuracy and go for the horse power since the groups were the same. Couldn't get the velocity that I do with RL19, with RL26 I got 3252fps and with RL19 I got 3387fps. This was out of a 26" Shilen Select Match barrel.

At 3000' elevation, my 10 twist Kimber won't stabilize that bullet at 3120 fps. It has been AI'ed.

Well I'm impressed if you are getting 3387 with a 105 grain bullet... are we talking 243? or the Ackley version... or a 6mm AI Rem, or 6/06 240 Weatherby?

we are talking 243 win aren't we? 26" shilen select match, this is ai fast barrel, backup rifle with same barrel using same load goes 3327fps for a average, RL19 and the 243 is a match made in heaven, I use it in all my 243 and I have alot of them. Really sends the Barnes 80gr TTSX speeding down range too

Well Gemby,
That is pretty darn impressive...
I know RL 19 does wonders in my 6 mm Remington...
You've lead me onto something I'm going to have to pay more attention to.... nice to learn something new..
I don't have any AI'ed rifle chamberings... but this is certainly fun stuff waiting to have....
thanks for posting!!!

Seafire I was impressed at 3150 out of a high country's 20" barrel with RL26 that I had to buy some to try it hoping I could reach 3500fps but it went the other way.
I'm a big fan of RL19 using it in my 243, 25-06, 7mm08, 30-06, 300 win mag, 300 wby, 338 win mag, 340 wby. always gave me good accuracy and velocity. For the heck of it I'm going to try it in a 223 one of these days.
had a gentleman on here contact me about his 243 not being able to shoot less than 1", he asked me if I had a good load for the Barnes 80gr TTSX and I told him what all my 243's use which was RL19. he got back to me after loading some of my powder charge recommendation up and he said he shot a 3/8" group.

At 100' elevation, 105 gr. Scenars would not stabilize in my 10 twist .240 Wby. and at even higher velocity.
Velocity helps, but IME, it's a weak substitute for twist.
