http://www.legacysports.com/product/index.htm(click on 'Puma') Know/heard anything about these? Anyone? Not sure what I need it for. But, a stainless synthetic 454 lever action carbine How can that not be cool?

Yep;
Had one. Safariman has it now.
VERY nice little rig; slick, smooth, and plenty accurate.
Not built to be a showpiece, but a workhorse.
The action is plenty strong, and tight, but still very smooth in action. Sights are adequate; a D&T job for a receiver peep sight would do wonders.
The stupid little swing safety on top can be removed by a good smith, and IMHO, since there's a half-cock anyway, should be so removed.
BTW - replace the factory recoil pad with a Decelerator; the .454 loads will flat out get your attention. That said, you can also shoot .45LCs in it all day, with little problem at all.
.454 loads (factory) through the carbine will give you factory .45-70 ballistics (300 grs at 1800-1900 fps), and you get 10+1 of those. Or, 11+1 of .45LCs via the same tube.
Hard not to like that...
I think I'll be needing another... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Just looked at a stainless 16 inch at sportsmans warehouse. I would own it now if it had synthetic furniture instead of wood. Good looking wood, just not what I'm looking for.

There's a really nice article on the .454 Legacy in the Jan/Feb issue of Boar Hunter magazine.

Why?
Amazing how many wood stocked rifles do PLENTY well just about everywhere.
Glass-bed the forearm, if necessary, and keep gettin' on...

Too kewl... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
As soon as Marlin comes out with a SS/Lam 1895G in 460 Ruger or 454 Casull, I'll own one. As it is, I'm trying to resist buying one of the laminate 45-70s that Davidson's just put out as a "special run".....
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!

It's a Winchester 92 clone. They should have set it up for a receiver sigtht. I don't believe I'll ever own another synthetic stocked rifle.

Vanimrod, I noticed this rifle has a loading gate on the side of the action as well as the removable tube like a Marlin 60 22lr.
Is the gate for looks only? Or, can you load through both systems?

You can load via either system.
If it were me, I'd look to have the silly little safety thing on top of the bolt removed, and a peep of some description screwed into the hole made there. It'd be adjustable for elevation, but you'd have to windage adjust out on the front sight. But, it'd probably be about as bombproof as you can get, and put no additional holes in the receiver.
That, or a standard Lyman/Redfield peep for a 92/94 D&T'd.
Slick little guns; I liked mine much, but safariman offered me a trade too good to pass up, so away it went.
I'll have another...

Grady, I did an article on the .480 Ruger version (same rifle, different cartridge) a few years ago that Guns Magazine has made available online. You can read it here: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_12_50/ai_n6275752I was very impressed with Rossis quality and the smoothness of the action. In fact, Ill go so far as to say the current Rossi 92 clones are the smoothest of all the 92s, just not necessarily the prettiest.

As soon as Marlin comes out with a SS/Lam 1895G in 460 Ruger or 454 Casull, I'll own one. IIRC the Marlin Action is not strong enough for the Casull by about 10,000 psi (or CUP--I do not recall). BMT
