Cool!
I had a stare down with one many years ago at about 20 yards. Big bugger, up on his hind legs. I was watching him thru 9X binocs, as he seemingly decided whether he wanted to take me . Neither of us were in doubt he could, if I was un-aided.
The '06 might have been a bit of a problem for him had he decided wrong.
Beautiful critter!

I learned my lesson years ago when I thought I'd just bonk a live wolverine in a friend's trap; a 36 axe handle vs. a wolverine in a #4 on six feet of chain. No thanks; I wasted no time getting out of the circle.
But for a herd ungulate, that 'deer' was giving the wolverine more of a workout than I would have thought.
Sometimes, the air you 'let in'matters less than the air you 'let out'.

I wonder if the reindeer was injured and unable to run away. You'd think the deer could turn tail and easily out run the wolverine?
A wolverine doesn't look like the right critter to stand and fight with from that video.

Interesting, reminds me of watching an otter and racoon fighting. The otter chased the racoon off, and hit the water! The racoon fled into the brush and went up a small alder!

Once had a marten on Kodiak (Afognak Island actually) try to claim a small buck I shot. Weasels are mighty confident in their abilities...

Unbelievably fast. That appears to be a dead reindeer.

My friend showed me a picture of a goat killed just like that. The guy was snowmobiling on a local mountain and they found the dead goat way out on the flats away from the cliffs. After seeing the video it isn't too hard to see how they could have gotten so far into the open. They scared it off with the machines but you can bet he came back after they left.

Like most people, I have heard that wolverines are tough and mean, but for that little guy to take down a reindeer, that's incredible. KC

I know a guy that tracked a wolverine on his trapline for weeks. The wolverine was bleeding and when he finally caught it, it had a hole in it's skull. Must have gotten in a fight with a wolf or a bear, but it was still surviving with a hole in its head.
My old manager has had them pull out of 330 conibears which is no easy feat. I went to belisles because of that. My favorite critters to trap, their fur is amazing! I wish we had them around here.

Right rear leg of the deer doesn't seem to working very well. Hamstrung by a woof...?

Not the belisles, those things are awesome! I would not want to get caught in one. When we had a belisle 330 go off, something was in it. I ran a bunch of 280's for otter and they worked really well. 220's work great though like you say.
