Looking to sell a Ruger 77 ultralight 30-06, 20" barrel. Nice condition. Has a couple of dings in the stock from use. Blueing is in good shape with some bluing loss around the muzzle. Has the iron sights, tang safety and red recoil pad. Stock is walnut with the black ebony tip.

If you know what the going price is for one of these please let me know.

Thanks.

$475 would be quick I believe. $575 is probably closer to market

Are the open sights factory? If so, you have the RLS carbine & should be a 18-1/2" barrel. Now that particular rifle will be worth a bit more than a RL ultralight.
Can you post pics?

I took a closer look and these sights are not factory sights. Barrel is 19 1/8" to the tip of the receiver so definitely longer than 18.5.
I was trying to find out the specifics of an RLS but didn't have any luck on the limited research on the web.

Those don't appear to be Ruger sights. It looks like they were added to the RL. They won't hurt the value but also won't help it. I would guess the value in the $500 to $550 range.

Has the action been drilled and tapped and scope bases added? I have never known of a "roundtop" RL. I'm looking on my telephone and the picture is not great.

Picture is not good on line either. Lots of questions, one is where he is measuring to. RL is 20" but I don't remember a RT 20" it should be 22". Or the barrel has been cut down, I don't know. Nice looking rifle though. I'm thinking $500 or so.

The barrel is definitely a Ruger ultralight contour, and the measurement of 19-1/8" is correct to the receiver face, it will measure the full 20" to the threaded breech face. The receiver is the standard Ruger integrated base/ring configuration & don't believe they ever offered the RL ultralight in the round top receiver configuration.

Has the standard integral ruger bases as mentioned earlier.

That still does not answer my question. Are there aftermarket bases screwed to the top of the receiver? The top of the receiver is sticking up too high and is shaped wrong for the standard receiver. I have seen standard receivers drilled and tapped and bases screwed to the top of the receiver. The rear ring also looks too far forward for a standard placement. I agree the barrel looks to be the RL profile. Measure the barrel to the vent hole in the receiver, this corresponds closely to the bolt face which is the proper way.

A good clear picture would be good, but I disagree that the modifications do not hurt the value.

Rear sight does not look correct, but hard to tell.

Easy to tell a correct RL barrel, the barrel shank is shorter than a standard barrel. Standard barrel will have the caliber designation stamped on the shank, the RL barrel will have the designation stamp down on the barrel, right about under the rear sight.

Ruger did make the M77RLS 30-06. RLS = with Rings, ultraLight barreld action and Sights. It should be in the SN range of 770-88222 to 771-00004 1987.

Looks like the M77RLS was mostly, if not all, in the 30-06 and 308.

Info from the "Reference of Ruger Firearms, Volume Two" fourth revision.

Not drilled, normal bases, and the caliber stamp is located under the front sight. sounds like an RL based on comments above.
I thought the link I had above provided access to more pics but just realized it didn't so here are is another one.

The sights are not like any Ruger 77 sights that I have seen..

I've got a RL but wouldn't mind having an M77RLS 30-06. Or 308 I reckon.
