6'2" 200 lbs... Tried the Cabala's Big Man cot. It was long and wide enough but did not stay flat enough... Suggestions?

I got one of these when I weighed 260 and with a roll up pad was pretty firm.

I am bigger than you @ 6-4" 215 lbs.... I bought the oversized REI cot and I really like it. I put a Camp Rest thermarest on it and my big flannel bag and it's a bit of elk-camp heaven.

I can relate.

To solve it, I bought a firm piece 4.5" thick foam rubber. 84" long. Wide enough to fit my oversized sleeping bag, and went to sleeping on the ground.

Some of the best night's sleep I've had were on that. No more back problems either.

I'm 6'05" and 220. Sure worked for me. I sold my "nice" cot in a garage sale.

I have suffered with back problems all my life. I tried several different cots, foam. Before I got my little camper,I settled on an airbed I set on a bed frame that had a sheet of OSB cut to size. Just replace them every two years. You can get them for $15-$20 on sale and inflate high enough to support your weight.

You can get a pump that plugs into your truck cig. lighter or Coleman had one that operates on 4 D cells

Um well, I think of gravity as the enemy these days... I'm down about 30 lbs.... Pain is a wonderful motivator. Swimming 4X times a week wasn't really taking any weight off. It took ( shudder) portion control...

In related adapting to becoming "some old guy" I have recently discovered Youtube clips of 8 hr long night time woods sounds . It really seems to help me sleep better grin

I have tried foam rubber pads but none of them were firm enough for me. Our bedroom mattress has a dual density composite foam topper with both memory foam and gel like stuff that goes into running shoes. I like it a lot... but I'm not dragging a $2000.00 mattress out into the woods!

Maybe there is an online source for a better quality foam? I could build a bed frame from pressure treated wood and just leave it at the campsite...

i have a big grizzly cot that i use for camping
out when a cot is used. i have some therma rest
knock offs i use with G.I. green closed cell pads.
i do have one of the cabelas big cots, but it's
way too heavy to wag even on truck camp outs, so
it's stayed at the outpost in the spare sleeping
spot. i can't imagine traveling anywhere with that
heavy pos. it does sleep nice, but it'll give you
a major back ache just trying to move it or set
it up.

Have you seen the Davis cot? Might give them a call. They'll give you the straight scoop. Good folks.

I am 5'9 at 230 I use the shotgun seat in my truck, the wife has it rather soft.

If a bit far for the truck, hydrocodone in the morn works.

No fear, no doubt, all in, balls out.
