I went to my kid's school awards ceremony this morning. Small christian school that goes up to 6th grade. While I haven't agreed with everything the schools done since he's been there I think for the most part that they have the kid's best interest and try to do the right thing.
I was surprised though when every kid in the entire school got either "honor roll", "high honor roll" or "highest honor roll". My son even received an award for perfect attendance when I can think of at least two school days that he missed.
Wife and I talked about it later, and decided that we're not going to go all James Harrison and make him throw the awards away, but we're just not going to make a big deal out of them to him

My nephew went to a school like that.
Dude is an ace student a now is an attorney
My mom said she was concerned that he got the fewest awards.
He replied-"it's ok gramma, the dumber you are the more awards you get"
He was only 8 at the time.

My son screwed off at karate and they still gave him a medal. He came off the mat confused about why he got an award when he knew he didn't even try. He's 4.
Deal with it.

My 2 sons attended a Christian school. They had a decent soccer team and they both were starters. After each game, they'd pick someone as player of the game. It was pretty questionable many times on who got it. Usually it wasn't a starter. The quality of the award really took a dive when they gave it to a kid who didn't even get in the game.

You made the right choice, now go talk with the school administrators.

😂 If he was an ace student what happened that he ended up being an atty?

My kids like getting pity trophies. They think that they are fun targets to shoot.

All 3 of our grand kids were invited to attend an Easter egg hunt at my daughter and son-in-law's church 2 years ago. For the 1st 2 minutes or so all the kids worked hard to find eggs, but soon figured out they were all just empty plastic eggs. When you finished hunting you dumped your eggs into a barrel and every kid got the same bag of candy.
It only took 2 and 3 year olds a couple of minutes to figure this one out. They stopped hunting eggs, turned in the 2-3 they found and got their bag of candy. Told my Son-in-law it appeared Obama planned it.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I woulda been in the running in grade school, but once high school era hit, oh boy. I could easily think of no less than 537 things every day I'd rather be doing then to be sitting in school.
