I've heard that the grizzlies are waking a little earlier this year. What have you guys seen or heard? I've got a hunt for the 1st week in June near Cantwell. To say I'm getting a little excited is a mild statement.

Some have been out up this way for 3 weeks. With the warm 20 to 35 weather the last week I imagine most are out, or at least awake. Several have been killed.

Wife said tracks in the driveway in Sterling (Kenai Peninsula) when she got there this afternoon.

Those would be brown bear.

Potter geese must be keeping a low profile- saw none on way by today. But I heard some yesterday in Kotz- and that's 600 miles north. No open water- silly birds!

But the tundra is starting to bare up, so they might have some forage anyway.

Saw first pair of swans on potter marsh last week. Nearly hit some geese walking in the middle of the road by work the week before.

I don't ever recall seeing so many moose in Potter's Marsh. There have been over a dozen hanging out the past week.

Yep, and at Creamers in Fairbanks as well. We've had cranes and geese over the house here in the valley all weekend. Wonderful, invigorating sights & sounds!!!
