Damn...

http://www.ktvq.com/story/34622145/montana-man-charged-with-his-23rd-dui

BUTTE -
Police arrested a 54-year-old man in Butte on Saturday, who was later charged with his 23rd DUI.

Clinton Todd Sproles was arrested just after 11 p.m. on suspicion of driving drunk in the 700 block of East Front Street.

Sproles allegedly told police he had 22 previous DUIs in Montana and other states.

Butte Sheriff Ed Lester said it's alarming that someone continues to drive drunk after so many arrest.
doesn't look like he's getting any kind of a message to stop his behavior, that's the concerning part," Lester said. "Anytime you're racking up DUIs, that's an amazing pace for anybody to set, so it's deeply concerning that he'd be out driving with potentially 22 DUIs."

Sproles was most recently sentenced for a felony DUI in Gallatin County in 2008. He was given 240 months in the Montana State Prison.

Sproles remains jailed on felony DUI and probation violation charges.

Sproles also has convictions in Montana for being a persistent felony offender.

And when he gets out he will drink and drive again. Jail is no deterrent for them.

He would have been sentenced to life in prison here way before his numbers got that high.

3rd one's a felony. After that it gets real serious, real quick.

True, you must reside in Williamson Co. I have heard stories of drunks getting life after 3-4 DUIs, weather that's true or not...

Third DWI is a felony here too but with a good lawyer, enough cash and the promise of treatment for their disease, somehow they usually manage to stay out of prison for several more arrest unless they kill somebody. [bleep]!

He will drink until he kills himself....at 54 he could last 20 more years.....

There should be 20 judges in jail.......for allowing him to get 23 DUI's.....

If he was still in prison serving out the last 240 month sentence he would not have gotten this one. This guy should live the rest of his days behind bars.

Montana legislature is decreasing penalties for repeat felony dui offenders. MT has felony at 4, 13 months treatment followed by up to five years probation. Second felony is up to five years prison. Under persistent felony offender statute, if get second or subsequent felony within five years of last then minimum 5 to 100.

Passing through legislature is bill to remove persistent felony offender 2 strike law because it is coercive. If any one is interested it is hb133. Decreasing penalties for lots of crimes.

So max sentence in future looks to be 5 years.

3rd felony in Texas of any sort is a mandatory life sentence under the 3 Strikes law.

I don't feel sorry for him, he's made a choice. he chooses to live the way he lives and he chooses to endanger the lives of other people with his choices.

I actually have no problem with his drinking hell drink all you want be don't endanger someone else's life by getting in a vehicle.

I'm all for giving the guy a case or 2 of Vodka, maybe he'll drink himself to death and not endanger anyone anymore.

Bottoms up Bro!

there should be a lot more charges, such as driving without a license. no way he still has one. and lock up any judge with him who let him out.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

Pain is a great deterrent. Public caning would cure lots, maybe not this one, but lots of this sheit would stop if pain was involved.

35 years ago, I worked for Volvo and would go to Sweden for monthly meetings. I was always cautioned to NOT drive DUI and we always appointed a designated driver at dinner. At the time (I do not know current law), if you were arrested for DUI, you faced an immediate 30 days in jail (no lawyer, no judge - just go to jail). The second offense resulted in a 60 day stay and, for the 3rd offense, they got serious!

cirrhosis will get him sooner or later..

too bad some of these people just don't break their necks falling off of their bar stools...

and aren't any of these bars calling the cops when they have someone leave that is so drunk?

Do drug dealers report their addicts?
