hello wanted to load 85 xtp with blue dot but no info that makes me
feel safe.so it looks like a trip to go buy powder.


so looking for some help please.
what powders works best with 85,90,and 100 grain jacketed bullets for you?
i have 85 xtp bullets at this point.
they will be fired in a sp101 4" barrel.

looking at md smith and hodgdon data i see a few things like
hp-38,hs-6,cfe pistol get higher velocity with lower charge weights
than 2400.would the 2400 loads be prone to be more accurate with
the bigger charge weights? thanks for any help.
i have not shot or loaded pistol in 30 years and some of listed powders
are new to me others i have used like 2400 but that was 30 years ago.

Was just shooting some AA-7 loads today with the 85 grain Hornady XTP. Went from 9.0 to 9.5 to 10.0. Accuracy was excellent from a converted S&W 53 and a 3" SP101. Didn't have time to chronograph them today however.

Extraction was smooth up to 9,5 grains...not as smooth at 10.0...so I am going to load these at 9.5.

Thanks RJM after lots more reading i am thinking a can of AA #9 for jacketed 85,90,or 100 grainers?

That is what I am going to try next. I just had a buch of #7 around that I wanted to burn up and wanted to see how it would work.
