Thinking about ordering a McMillan Sako Hunter or Classic for a LSA-65 270. The lines of the classic are more appeasing to my eye, but seem to recall the hunter as being highly touted by those who own one. Looking to hear thoughts on both of these in regards to grip, forearm width and comb.

Thanks,

I prefer the Sako Hunter style, as it is the McMillan stock design that fits me the best on all but light weight and/or short barrel rifles. I find that it is a comfortable stock that points well and I particularly like the geometry of the pistol grip and the size/shape of the raised cheek-piece.

That said, a stock that works well for me might be a terrible choice for you. My favorite McM stock styles are the McM Hunter and Mountain Rifle. My least favorite styles are the Remington Seven and Sporter.

It really won't matter which stock you get, it still won't fit a LSA 65, Sako and Tikkakoski are 2 completely different rifles.

McMillan lists Tikka 595-695, 55, 65 and T3 for the action compatabity, isnt the "65" referring to the Tikka LSA-65? or is their another Tikka "65" Im unaware of?

Tikka LSA 65 is a rifle made by Tikkakoski in Finland and imported by Ithica nearly 40 years ago. Nothing at all to do with Sako.

Call with McMillan and confirm if the will make the stock for the rifle you have.

BTW, I went with a Sako Hunter pattern, for a T3 .300 wm, and have found it to be an excellent stock for field shooting positions, as well as aesthetically.

Sako is referring to the design of the stock, not necessarily the inlet. I've a Sako Classic I like much. Really would like to try the Hunter on a rifle I currently have in a compact.
