Am having a hell of a time shooting long when I don't have a spotter, I am having a hard time spotting my misses and where I am missing, wind always blows so I am used to the wind some days it's not to hard to read as others, but when the bullet hits the dirt and the dust fly's up, by the time I recover from the recoil I can't tell for sure where I hit. sure makes making adjustments hard, anyone else ever have this problem ?? In short, yes - I have he same problem. Hell, I often have problems even when I have spotter. My wife and my long time hunting buddy are both as bad at spotting as they are reading maps. My hunting buddy gets upset when I insist on reading maps myself but when I let him do it and then ask where we are, the response is often "I don't know". This when we are driving down a highway and he can't follow the turns and creeks and other hints.
One reason I love my .243, ,257 Roberts, 6.5-06AI and braked .308 is I can see my own hits and misses.
Clay pigeons make great targets. At least you know when you hit them.
