I'm guessing A-Bolt action screws are metric. Anybody know where I can find longer ones?? Is it a standard thread pitch??

Thought I could find it in Brownell's schematics... they have the screws but no specs... figured I could find stockmakers inletting handscrews with the specs, but no one seems to make them... I struck out completely...
I would bet they are metric...

Hopefully gunswizard will chime in. I think he worked for Browning for 20+ years

Worked on tons of A-bolts but never had occasion to check the screw threads, the rifle being made in japan leads me to think they're probably metric .Didn't work at Browning for 20 yrs., it just seemed like that long.

Likely a standard M6x1 thread like the Sako L461 uses. Buy bolt at the HW store to verify. Mcmaster Carr has a lot of different bolt styles. If you want one that takes a screwdriver bit and you can't find one, start with a hex head and turn the flats off and profile it then slot the head.

Not M6 X1, just checked. Don't know what it is either.

By eye it seems a good deal coarser pitched than 1.

If my notes are correct, the front screw is a basic 1/4" UNC (20TPI) but the rear screw is a real oddball: 10-28. Good luck finding a ready source of that one.

I took my Browning to the hardware store and outfitted it with bolts. Ran into a slight problem because they were either too short or slightly too long. Bought the longer ones. Brought them home, put them against the grinder, shortened them to specs, few seconds each. Quick, easy, satisfying, fun.
