It was a great weekend in west Texas where we harvested 3 good free range axis. Temps are normally in the mid 90s but we had some unusual weather with high winds and rain dropping temps into the upper 50s. It made the deer movement shut down to a minimum but we kept after it and scored on these 3 bucks (went 3 for 3). Its about prime time for axis right now. www.westtexashunt.com

Couple of those bucks are really nice. Congratulations.
How far west? The terrain looks too green for El Paso. Fort Davis maybe?

KC, these were taken in the Sonora Texas area. Just under 5 hours from El Paso, not too bad of a drive for being in these parts. We also hunt them in the Rocksprings area as well.
Thank you Elkhunter49!

Just curious, what is the average dressed weight of a mature Axis?

Just curious, what is the average dressed weight of a mature Axis? 165lbs to 185lbs dressed on average.
