Picked up a new 45cal ML (Win X-150) and considering ordering a few of the 357 or 40cal Precision Rifle Dead Center bullets

Precision Rifle Dead Center Bullet Link

Probably the 195gr. 200gr. or 22gr.

Any experiences with these?

Will be running these over BH209

Thanks!

The X-150 is a rebranded CVA with a couple changes. Its a very poor choice for BH209 unless you want to do some modifications to it. As is you will get a ton of blowby and poor ignition.

I can't comment on BH209 in your rifle but I will tell you the 40 caliber 200 gr shock wave with the blue sabot offered by T/C is a deer killing bullet. This bullet kills quicker than the 250 gr shock wave with more internal damage. My hunting group has had more dead right there with this bullet than the comparable 250 gr shock wave.

Thanks Doc, I've also stacked up a few with the 40cal 200 Horn, in both 50 and 45s, and have some on hand w light blue Harvesters to try, but curious if these Dead Centers are worth a shot. Might even still have some 195 Barnes left too

No, i would go with Triple7 3FG and the 220gr or larger Dead Centers. You could try the 357 195gr but those sabots might be a bear to load. They are pretty tight in every 45cal ive tried. You can always swap out to the Harvester sabot with the 45x40s but you only have 1 choice with the 45x357. .Look at the QT series also. The QTs are a little cheaper.

Cutting Edge Bullet, Lehigh Defense and Fury Custom Bullets all offer some cool 40cals for muzzleloaders. Fury is really new to the ML game but he is the only one offering bonded core bullets in 40cal.

BTW for practice get some 40-200gr XTPs or Hornady HAPs. They usually shoot great and will save you a lot of money on load work. Its even ok for hunting if you keep the speed down to around 1800fps or so,

Thanks guys - looks like there is a way to swap the breech plug and shim the bolt and make BH209 useable. So - might try that. Or, might send it down the road to.

Then you know well how the .50 200 grain shock wave (Hornady) bullet works..

I do... I have loved it at BH209 velocities and smokeless high velocities as well.

Just seeing if the supposed BC gains from the Dead Center's are worth it
