Looking to pick up some Hornady, .458 300 Hollow point, 350 grain FP as well Speer, .458 300 UCHP & 400 SP grain bullets for a little load development with the 45-70.
May also be interested in other "deer suitable" bullets too.
PM me with what you have.

I've shot everything from rabbits to elk with the .458 Socom. It's shooting the same bullet at modern 45/70 velocities. I found that the Hornady was too heavily constructed for light-skinned deer. I finally ended up shooting the 300gr and 405gr Remingtons. They are half the price and expanded perfectly. BTW, the 405gr Remington put 3 rounds through the chest of an 8x7 bull elk...DRT.

BTW... I have a couple of 45/70s and shoot the Remingtons in them, as well. Just haven't killed as many game animals.

Lance If I could only find some 405 Remingtons. Have 30 but hardly enough to work up a load if they are not available.
