I started working up some handloads for the new Hornady 147gr 6.5mm ELD-M in my .260 Sako 85. I say "new" because we only just got them here in New Zealand last week. Here's the initial results (and some other stuff):

Great video. I haven't tried the 147 yet but it looks like it has some promise.

Nice video, I would like to try those 143's and 147's sometime soon. I didn't know the Sako short actions allowed you to seat a bullet out that far, I'm glad more manufacturers are doing that these days. My Savage 260 Rem also allows seating out to 3.00" .

Awesome! I subscribed to your channel a while ago before I knew you were on here! I got so jealous of your finnlight I picked one up a couple weeks ago for myself.

Can you get your hands on the ELD-X? you may have better on game results (wont matter for goats), they seem to hold together better than Bergers.

Yes, we can get the ELD-X here. I've been using the 143 ELD-X this year - I've shot 4 deer and 2 bull tahr with them, and am not hugely impressed with the performance in comparison to the 140gr Amax I used to use - I haven't been getting "dead on the spot" kills.

Yah the Amax is pretty violent on deer hence the DRT results you've been getting. What do your guys Kiwi Tahr and Deer weigh? I only have experience on animals in the 180-220lb range.

I think the ELDX uses the hornady interlock design ( correct me if I am wrong ) so they probably wont give you the epic initial shallow wounding but would be a better bullet through heavy shoulder I would imagine.

I always have Bear and Elk tags in my pocket when I am out deer hunting so I just stick to using the Amax for plinking,

thanks for making the great vids

A big red stag can weigh around 200+kg. A big bull tahr more like 120-130kg.

Nice video. The velocities are right with my average of 2724, using Re19 in my .260.
