All honorably discharged veterans interested in shopping online at the military exchanges can begin their verification process immediately, exchange officials said, and some may be able to shop prior to the program's full launch and can now register at; https://www.vetverify.org/LinkLinkPhil

Without going to the link, is that valid for commissaries as well?

Good to hear. With all the online shopping options out there, it sometimes doesn't pay. But I noticed back in the day, that there are some products that the manufacturer NEVER discounts, except at the exchanges.
Does anyone know if you can shop tax free through their web site or do they charge your state tax?
Thanks, Rob

Well, this might be a good deal for some, but I have to wonder about how much business they will actually get. The days of screaming bargains at the PX are long gone, everything is priced about the same as down town, and no Walmart junk available, only top quality and top brands. We shop there a little but only because it is handy and we don't have to pay sales tax, which is great if you are buying a new TV or some such.

Suspect that it is just a way to keep the system going for the base PX's and the Veterans still in active service. Probably will be a sizable differential between online and base prices, but nothing wrong with that...

Well, isn't this interesting. My files cannot be recovered although they are not listed as having been destroyed in the '73 fire.

I see they want ones social security number. Not something I like to hand out on line. I'd think they'd be more inclined to want one's service number.

The tax savings is the big thing about shopping at the PX.

I missed that one little word "online" so must apologize about the dumb commissary question.
I go to our nearby BX (Hill AFB) regularly but don't buy much there. The clothes are sized for skinny little airmen, not pudgy retirees. Styled that way, too. Electronics are priced nicely, but I seldom need any of those. Sporting goods are sparse. Ours sells firearms, but the selection is "plain Jane" and prices are pretty high. Frankly, the item we buy most often there is booze. Utah has a punitive "sin tax" on booze that makes buying at the BX a lot cheaper than from the state stores.

I filled in the info and was shocked when I got an immediate verification. So used to Gov't systems being slow. Haven't shopped a BX in ages, so don't know if it will be worth while or not. When I go to the VA Hosp, it's nice not having to pay sale tax.
