At our other home with it's mahogany decking Cabot's Australian oil stain performed flawlessly. Last year with fingers crossed we applied same to our basic pressure treated decking with little or no color/protection showing just 12 months later.
What says the Campfire home maintenance experts for PT decking ?
TIA.

Behr's new product. Get it at Home Depot. I just put it on our deck handrails (deck itself is TREX) and I'm very happy so far.

We have yet to find anything that really works well on PT wood. Been trying for about 30 years now.

Thomson Water Seal has worked the best for me on PT wood.

I've fought the same problems with durability as the above posted, the oil base transparent/semi-transparent is a waste of money...I applied the expensive stuff every 2 years and it didn't protect at all. When using it on vertical surfaces like fences and railings it's fine, but the beating a deck takes from sun/water/foot traffic it just doesn't hold up.
So I'm down at Cape May one year, and see all the decks look brand new and beautiful...they've been there for years, we always stayed at the same place. One morning I see a painter on a ladder working on a deck, I walk over to have a talk. He says "paint, a quality polymer fortified paint is the only way"....I found it at home here, a polymer latex deck "stain", works great and wears like iron.
YMMV

Behr's new product. Get it at Home Depot. I just put it on our deck handrails (deck itself is TREX) and I'm very happy so far. A Friend of mine Stained His Cedar House with Behr solid color house stain 36 bucks a Gallon !!!!! It was Guaranteed for 25 years...It lasted 4 years and started coming off...He has a Hell of a mess...He is going to try to strip whats left off with a pressure washer.....

Yep^^^^^, we have about 1500sq. ft. of PT decking wrapped around our cedar sided house. Have found zero products that 'hold' on either.

Sikkens. Really good stuff.
They make a deck version and a siding version. Look it up online.
Used it on my log house 35 years ago and it still looks great.

Sikkens, it's what most wood sided homeowners here use. Thompsons is just a wax type product.

The substrate is the entire question here... PT ain't mahogany...
Behr makes several products at the upper end of the spectrum for the task based on your local climate expectations... it is not an easy question to answer without a ton of local knowledge. If anyone knows my history with Behr and the fact I listed them has to know I think they actually make good stuff...
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

ArborCoat solid stain was used on entire house (all cypress) and handrails (p.t. pine). The exposure is borderline extreme and very close to the coast. I would consider it in excellent condition for 10 yrs.
