Looking for your favorite factory loads for whitetails using a 1-8 twist 223. I've got some 75gr Hornady HPBT on order also trying to find the best mono bullet choice for my twist, assuming the heavier the better.

The federal fusion load has worked well for me with 7 to 12 twist.

The Barnes Vortx TSX load has also worked as far as mono stuff, 53 or 55 grain, can't quite remember exactly

I have some Hornady 55 gr SP that may get a trial this fall.

After killing his first little doe with a .350 RM at age 11, my younges shot a couple few with a Colt 16-inch. Target model and 75-grain TAP Hornady's. I've killed a single antlered buck with a Barnes 55 grain VorTx.

Son has also killed a couple of slickheads with 788 Rem .22/250 55-gr. CoreLokt, I'd say most factory softpoint fodder 55 and up would kill pretty well at reasonable range.

Doubletap loads a 62 TSX. That would be a good one to try.

Remington HogHammer load works great for culling does here at the Ranch. Works great on Hogs too.

What is this "factory fodder" you speak of?

I'd try a box of Fusion. That is one tough bullet. A deer probably won't catch one.

I don't know why folks want to continue calling it 'stunt shooting'.

Mebbe because they can't imagine a 5.56mm whacking an elephant with one shot, or a water buff.

A few weeks ago I used Hornady Steel Match ammo loaded with their 75 gr HPBT on these two bang drops. My HBAR will put 5 inside an inch, often well inside, all day long. At ~$20 for a box of 50 it is not a bad deal either.
