The mail carrier delivered a package yesterday I'd been anticipating for the last 5 years. When I opened the black case, this was inside The journey to my door started almost 5 years ago during a visit to the Biesen shop, when Al was still with us Over time, Roger found out that my favorite cartridges are medium heavies, so he showed me the start of a rifle on a P-64 action and barrelled in my favorite cartridge in that class. We agreed that a few of the distinctive Biesen touches should be included in the build. It points like a shotgun and will make the trip to Africa with me next year.

Jealous--that one's way prettier than mine! Congratulations! Hope you come home with trophies and memories that do it justice.

It will definitely see use, as intended. I believe this will be my medium displacing my plan for a Ruger No.1 in that role.

Nice rifle!
Why do they mark it "Spokane WN"?

That has to be one of the later ones that both Biesen's worked on. You should send it to daughter Kathy for some light scroll work and then it would be a triple Biesen rifle. A real beauty and classic cartridge.

Gunner, being a classicist, I'll use 400 A-Frames which have worked well for me in 0.423". I'm planning on those at around 2375-2400 fps.
JorgeI, I believe we share similar tastes in blue steel and wood. Thanks.
Tejano, When I spoke with Roger last week, I told him I'd like to have one more Biesen - a JOC #2 in 270 Win with an engraving of my Dall ram on the floor plate, by Paula. We'll see if he agrees to do it. Since Roger joined the business, all Biesen rifles have carried the Al & Roger designation.

Sorry had Paula's name wrong. That would make quite a pair and would be worthy of residing in the JOC center at some point. Hope they agree.

Visited the JOC center once. Definitely worth the drive for anyone in the Lewiston area.

Depends on whether it's intended as an all around cartridge for buff and lesser beasts. But if the occasional elephant is on license then a 404J gets the dual role nod. YMMV Besides, 404J is a rifle loonies ultimate dream medium classical cartridge. It transcends reason.
