Shooters Pro Shop has both 100gr and 101gr .257 caliber Nosler E-Tips on sale.
What's the difference?

That's a good question and I'm curious if anyone knows the answer. I have some .277 131 grain E-tips I bought from them. Of course the standard weight is 130 grains, so I'm not sure why they made these but they were cheap so I thought I'd try them.

Probably made a mistake at the factory and didn't account for the plastic tip when they made them

I've bought odd ball weight bullets from Nosler multiple times in the past...
when I've asked about are they new bullet weights, or what...
I've been told that they were made for the European Market and were overruns.
for example, bought a bunch of 6.5 mm, 105 grain SMP partitions...they were like 8 cents apiece... so I bought about 400 of them at the time.
of course they could have just been making it up... by campfire logic.. but I doubt it.

I field-tested some pre-production 180-grain .30 E-Tips in Africa before they were announced. However, they weighed 182 grains, because Nosler forgot to add in the weight of the plastic tip. The single one recovered weighed 180.0 grains.

Maybe like the 340 Weatherby is a 338 rounded up? Seriously, they just probably made something a tad heavy. Jacket, tip, core.

I bought a bunch of 90gr 6mm E-Tip blems last year. They also had 86gr (IIRC). Thought maybe they were enough shorter that they'd stabilize properly in a 1-10", or maybe just somebody set up the swager on a bad Monday morning. The 86s were somewhat cheaper, too.

From the Support Staff at ShootersProShop.com:
Hello Sir,
They are basically the same bullet. They are both Nosler E-tip bullets, but the 25 cal 101 grain bullet is a OEM bullet that Nosler makes for Federal to load in their ammunition. The only difference other than the weight is that the 101 grain bullet will have a black polymer tip instead of the normal Olive Drab tip color that the normal E-tips have. The reason the 25-101gr E-Tip is on sale is because we have a couple hundred bags. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,
Mark

I have 200 and 201gn .338 E-Tips. They are in fact 1gn different, but also a different shape. Slightly different boattail anyway. And, they are not the Federal 200gn Trophy Copper either as it is again visibly different.

Apparently black weighs more than olive drab - must be because black absorbs more light.
