Just found out I got my 2nd choice deer tag, which is a High Cascade tag that starts in September then, if a guy doesn't fill it, converts to a blacktail buck tag for the general season. Generally speaking, it's up around the PCT, and has extension both east and west of the PCT. Lots of mulie/blacktail hybrids up there. I haven't decided where to target yet.
I also got a Steens antelope tag. I will be researching whether a backpack hunt is appropriate for that hunt. It's a wonderful place to pack in for deer; dunno if the 'lopes are up high or down in the sage in August. I'm hoping for up high!
Love to hear what you got!!
The CENTER will hold.

I'll be in the Missouri River breaks this fall with one, possibly 2, elk tag and a deer tag. Not sure if I'll be doing any backpacking in, but will have the gear with me if I need to do it.

I was referring to living out of the backpack for a couple of days at a time. That said, I am stoked about being able to spend some time in that country with tag(s) in hand. I've long been fascinated with that part of the world.

I have a CO 1st rifle bull tag and a 2nd rifle Buck tag. Both will be backpack trips. Been playing with different packing ideas, food and so on in an attempt to reduce weight and/or volume. Just about dialed in I think. Now, where to search for the bucks in 2nd rifle remains a question without a certain answer.
