Agreed. At least 2 of the 3. I won't likely see much need for the 17 WSM.

Although you didn't mention the 17M2........I keep one with me for the close under 125 yard ish shots... So very effective...dogs fold up....kick twice & are dead......but...ammo is scarce.....this is my 3rd M2... having Savage..CZ..and now this Ruger 77-22 with Lilja M2 barrel.......If this is a main rifle... I would opt for the centerfire 17..........reload it......you're talking off the shelf rifle ? If not...also look at a 20 Vartarg (Fireball)......

I am planning on dumping my savage WSM as well if they start making the 77/17wsm Rugers again. Don't overlook the WSM as its a great cartridge but the Bmag isn't up to my standards. The WSM prices keep keeping lower and lower on ammo so I think it's a no brainer if it survives.

I'd combine one of the rimfires with a .17 Hornet. The easy rimfire is the HMR, partly because ammo is so available, and partly because the A17 ammo in a bolt rifle comes pretty close to .17 WSM ballistics. An accurate .17 WSM is a good choice too, but still not anything like a .17 Hornet for longer shots.
I generally start on a town with the .17 HMR, then after most of the dogs within its range are either dead or in their holes break out the .17 Hornet.

WOW !! A $1000 Ruger. Who would have ever thought the day would come.

223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

I generally start on a town with the .17 HMR, then after most of the dogs within its range are either dead or in their holes break out the .17 Hornet. Every now and then we get to a town that hasn't been molested by a local kid with a 22. So many of our shots are >200 yards. Last year we did quite a bit of shooting at near 500 to 550 yards - very tricky in the wind. But when we do hit the areas where close shots are found a 17 rim fire would be perfect, I'd think. And having a 17 Hornet for the longer shots make sense. I have not taken a 22 PD shooting for quite a while. Last year, on our week long treck, I took a 204 Ruger, two 223's, two 6mm Remingtons, and for the fun of it a 375 H&H AI and and scoped Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag. Others brought 22-250's and one had a 22-250 AI besides their 223's. MD - I'd guess by your choice of 17 HMR and other rifles you've talked about you probably have a CZ 527 for the Hornet??

Yeah, my .17 Hornet is a CZ 527. But the Rugers people mentioned in the last few posts shoot very well. On a PD shoot about 10 days ago one friend brought a Ruger in .17 Hornet and another a Ruger in .17 HMR, and both wanted me to try them out. They did very well, though if mine I would have worked the triggers over a little.
One thing I like about the 527 is the single-set trigger. When the one on my rifle's set, the pull is 9 ounces.

Was out shooting Sage rats yesterday on near KFalls...
Several shots... bang/flop.
Took several shots with one of the 223s, with 40 grain V Maxes.... Bang/KaBlooEy! Sage rats parts all over the place....
I put the 17 HMR up and had fun the rest of the afternoon...
seagulls came in and started to eat hardy...
