Looking at old photobucket stuff and came across this. I saved these photos from a ebay auction years ago.

Business card? Anyone have 22702?

I like how the card boasts "Six Different Cartridges. Can be used without the slightest change in the mechanism." Wonder what that means?

if you google "savage rifles for savage game" and look at the images that come up, you will find an ad that has the 1895 barrel band and the "six different cartridges".

Ah, that makes more sense.

Anybody have examples of that early .303 ammo? I would like to see an example of the paper patched bullet load.

Gary, here is some info on #22702.

1) 1899-A, B engraving, A3 checkering, .303, shipped 3/16/1903. Production was probably early 1901.

2) It went through Julian's 2003 and then through RIA in 2006.

3) "Pan Amer Expo"
The Pan-American Exposition was a World's Fair held in Buffalo, New York, United States, from May 1 through November 2, 1901. The fair occupied 350 acres of land on the western edge of what is now Delaware Park, extending from Delaware Avenue to Elmwood Avenue and northward to Great Arrow Avenue.

Great photo!

Accepted from factory on May 2, 1901. Shipped to Von Lengerke & Detmold of New York. Came back, engraving and checkering added and shipped to Simmons Hardware of St. Louis on Feb. 28, 1906.

I would also say it has fancy english walnut stock, tho letter doesn't mention it. Very nice rifle.

So the Pan-American Expo started on May 1, and this gun shipped to Von Lengerke & Detmold on May 2. Was Von Lengerke & Detmold receiving rifles to be displayed at the Expo? Wonder how many rifles had entries for Von Lengerke & Detmold around the beginning of May?

Unless Von Lengerke & Detmold were the buyers of the rifle on the 2nd day of the Expo? They were apparently a well known sportings good outfit in NY. That would probably make sense.

The G&H historian might have info on the rifle in terms of when they received it and when it left and the quality of the rifle at that time. All of the letters Ive requested from them have been really great.
