It's been +100 here off and on for the last week.

Low humidity.

Every morning I leave the house with three 32oz chilled bottles of water. Lots of unsweetened ice tea.

Outside +10 hours a day, drink lots and lots of water and your energy will stay up.

My wife works inside and is a total puss when it comes to handling the heat.

We hit 95 in town yesterday, 91 at the house up the mountain, which is pretty hot for up here. Still drops to the high 50's at night so windows open then closed early AM and all is good w/o A/C. Next week will see highs in the low 80's, thankfully.

You could've waited until mid afternoon to do your bullet casting that way you don't need flame or an external heat source to melt the lead. 😉

Meanwhile, back at the "ranch", Iowa. I spent two weeks in NW Ontario, wood heat the first night. 50F in the morning, 90+ in Iowa is going to take a bit of getting used to.

Houston Hobby location was in the country when noaa records began. Now its got 20 miles of concrete and asphalt around it. Noaa loves to show how temps have been rising over the decades.

Yall must have had a lot of vehicles there back in 1905. wink

My car said 123 going home through the tunnel in downtown Phoenix today maybe 2:40 PM. By the time I was home out west in the desert half an hour later it was only maybe 112 I think. The asphalt and concrete seems to make a noticeable difference.

Hit maybe 80 today with bluebird skies and a nice breeze.

I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Soon to be 9+ months of 35-55 wet and overcast.

When I lived in the edge of town i could walk a hundred yards, 50 being into a pasture, and have a 10-12 degree drop on a hot summer evening, Rufus.

I know everybody likes to rip on certain places, but I really don't know how anybody lives in Phoenix. Not in town anyways.

What's equally spooky out here is some times you can step down into a dry wash just a couple feet and feel like you're walking into air conditioning.

I am obliged to point out that it's a dry heat. Shade and misting systems help a lot. You'd be surprised how possible it is to adjust.

I lived in Yuma for 25 years and worked in the farming/produce industry. Lots of days in July and August the thermometer in my truck read 124 to 127. Sprinkler pipe and tools get hot laying in the sun!

Tools don't even have to be in the sun. I was picking up mine after work yesterday that were in the shade and they were almost too hot to handle. Was 117 at the time.
