If you could live anywhere you liked, where would that be?

I can, and do. SW MO, at the juncture of a small spring creek (private) and a bigger one with floating/fishing. I have these resources, plus a garden-friendly soil/seasons, little or no snow to shovel, constant supply of good firewood, 4 distinct seasons, low cost of living, a property large enough for shooting and hunting, a recent trend toward conservative policies, the privacy afforded by being in the woods, and no more than an hour's drive to what I consider too big a town. 20 minutes to Walmart 24/7 shopping. More shooting of small game/varmints on a daily basis than anywhere I've been. No or not much irrigating the garden/orchard. Too much mowing. Could have gone anywhere, could've stayed west slope of the Rockies. This was the best compromise, and being mid-country allows for travel possibilities. I can mostly live as I choose, and got the ability for about 1/4 the purchase price of a comparable Intermountain property. If I were younger I'd have gone more remote. To get old, this is about right.

I like to have 2 moths of springs, 4 months of summer, 3 months of fall, and 3 months of winter. Not over 80°F summer and not below 20°F winter.
Now if the sun rises in the west. Where am I? (there is a real answer).

Same. I've lived right here for almost half my life now and don't intend to move. Utah is not a four-letter word.

Newcastle Wyoming area, the western Black Hills on enough land to where neighbors would not be troublesome.

We are pretty happy where we are. It is 90 minutes in one direction from a large national forest playground with a cabin, and 90 minutes in another direction from a large city with an airport and other big city stuff. We are within a day’s drive of most things that we like to do. At some point we may want to buy a recreational property someplace slightly warmer with less snow for use from January through April. Access to decent tracts of public land will be a priority.
There are other places that have impressed us, but we do not have any reason to investigate them at this time. Other areas we like are Spearfish/Deadwood, SD and Ouray/Silverton, CO.

If they run me out of Montana I am headed to Mississippi. I don't know why. That gave me chuckle. Mississippi is about as opposite of Montana as a place can be, yet it's in many ways the same place. Both rural, both at the bottom of the barrel for wages nationally, both have a strong hunting tradition. Lots of great people in both. A nice place to visit, but I could never live in MS.
