I shoot the 75 ELD-M out of my 8 twist 22-250, it makes for a great long range prairie dog load. I use AR-Comp at a little over 3200 fps with it.

That being said, I'd never use that on big game, there are better calibers and bullets for that. If I had to use a 22-250 for something like that I'd be shooting a mono like a TTSX. Yeah, I know a lot here will start howling but I don't see what's so hard about shooting something .25 caliber or bigger for big game. My 6.5x47 Lapua kicks less than my 22-250's so the recoil argument is BS.

How about some details on your RL-26 loads with 70 RDF.

I'm starting to use RL-26, never thought about it in the .22 250. I even see people using it in the 6.5 Creedmoor.

It seems pretty slow for the CM, but it's a dense powder allowing a good charge even in smaller than big mag cases.

I've read about the new RDF bullets, have not worked with them, am interested in details.

It seems to work very well in this cartridge with heavy bullets. I worked all the way up to 46 grains were there seemed to be a node at 3685 FPS, but there was slightly stiff bolt lift and that was at 40 degrees F. 3400 fps should to be plenty.

Maybe I should clarify. Wasn't necessarily advocating the AMAX as an ideal big game bullet. I haven't personally used it on any big game, but know some have with success. My point was that a 75gr Scirocco might be a good option, but I haven't tried it as I have plenty of AMAX around for that gun. Primarily for steel/coyotes.

Do or do not, there is no try.

The gun I posted shoots 75 SSII's very well. That is a good game bullet.
