Post 'em up!

First round is done...but pardon my sometimes crappy benchrest technique as it just isn't consistent....tow good shots were usually combined with a called "out"... The two good shots would be right together with the other an inch away...

Federal case neck sized in a Redding die. Flash hole chamfered and neck inside and outside chanfered. After all the brass has been fired one it will be resized and trimmed to one length.

When I did everything correctly three times in a row the gun would shoot under .75 moa....In reality I think this will be consistently around a .4 moa shooter if I do my part......

Neither top load for either bullet showed any pressure signs whatsoever.... I would like to try and make 3100 fps with the Hornady if the accuracy will stay...

I just threw these together. Had some new WW brass, used the expander mandrel to true the necks, dumped 34 grains of RL17 in there with CCIBR2's then seated a Hornady 75 grain AMax on top at 2.500" OAL.







Wasn't real fast, but I did get it on paper.







Should be a good shooting rifle..

Still zero pressure signs with either load.

I loaded some 50 grain vmax to get mine on paper.. random load of 34.0 g of IMR-4064,, 3 to get on paper, then a 3 shot group.. shot a second group to confirm.





Also shot a group of 77 grain tipped match kings.. again, a random load or 34.0 grains of RL-19 loaded at 2.500



I'm working now with the 75 Scirocco, but they are not as easy so far.

My Ruger with the Pac Nor 1 in 7 twist gets fed...

33.3 grains of RL 15, or 4064 or IMR 4895...

Large Rifle primer, usually CCI...

with 75 A Max, BTHP or 80 grain A Max or Match bullets...

velocity is usually right in the 3300 to 3350 fps range out of the rifles 24 inch heavy mag contour barrel...stainless if that matters
to anyone...

Bump. Interested to see others loads. Have tried H4350 and Hunter with 75 AMAX in my NULA 1 in 8 22-250. Best groups below 3200fps with both and wasn't even able to get to 3200 fps with Hunter at max charge (37.3 gr per email communication from Western). About 3250 fps at 37gr H4350.

I had a chance to work a little more with the 75G Swift Scirocco.. I am using RL-17. I shot a string for velocity and got the following with my magneto speed. Sorry the pic is sideways..



using this velocity data I determined I would start at 36.6 grains of RL-17 and shoot variable length at a measured velocity of 33320 fps.
I tested at 2.510 .005 off the lands... It did not like this at all.



I also tried a long jump of .110, It didn't like this either. 2.405" COAL = 0.110 jump



I found the best accuracy with a length to lands (jump) around .055-.080.. These are rough analysis and will get plenty of fine tuning to come.
This group is 2.435" COAL Jumping 0.080



And by far the best.. was 2.460, jumping .055



If anyone else is working with the 75 grain swift Scirocco, I would love to her your results.

80 gr. a max hit the target sideways in mine. Pulled the rest and seated 75 gr. A max and 77 Sierra tmk to try.

This is testing mine with 75 gr AMAX and seating them .020 off of the lands. I'm using RL-15, Lapua brass and a CCI 200:

Shot mine today with 70 gr Nosler RDF bullets and IMR 4350 38.2 grains and while the accuracy is excellent the speed was lacking. 3079 fps at 1000' since the accuracy is so good the velocity doesnt bother me as much but I am getting a very similar speed with a 26" barreled savage with the same bullet 25 grains of RL 15 in a 223. I am thinking of going to RL17. Like I said the accuracy was great but velocity was lacking.

Just did a quick work up for pressure.

75 ELD into the lands and full Lapua case of RL-26 and Fed 210 primer gave me 1" 4 shot group and 3330 fps. Now to play with seating depth to see if I can't tighten it up some.

Keep me posted. Interested in seeing results.

Will do...btw ran out of powder space before I hit pressure in my rifle. Waiting for my chassis stock to arrive and drop the rifle in it before I shoot my load work ups.

Has anyone tried light bullets at high speeds in their 8 twist tikkas?

I'm waiting to see all the dead animal pics shot with the 62 gr TTSX's, I have a loaded e-mail on one of these guns but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

mine is built on a Ruger SA Stainless, that use to be a 243.. so it has no mag block in it..

I've run 75 and 80 grain A Maxes out of it... and 75 grain BTHPs...

The 80 A Max and the 75 BTHPs being the most accurate out of the bunch...

my powder charges are with two powders...33.3 grains of either IMR 4064 or IMR 4895...

bullets seated out to magazine length...MV is 3350 with the 75 grain bullets
and 3300 fps with the 80 grainers...

barrel is a Pac Nor Reject, John Noveske did the barrel on it...before he got famous..

Cost me $75 for the barrel, the chambering and mounting it..

Well worked up the RL-26 load. #1 was .000" (in the lands), #2 was .020" out, #3 was .040" out, and #4 was .060" out. Overall none of them are bad, just one is clearly a winner and the 75 grains ELDs like to be in the lands for this rifle. If i can replicate 1/4 or even 1/2 MOA again then 75 ELDs at 3315 fps isn't exactly terrible.



As you can see things just went from a nice 1/4 MOA group to an "abysmal" .6" or so for #2 and #3, to a horrid just over MOA for the #4.

Going to load some more into the lands tonight and shoot them tomorrow to see how they do.

I am digging the little Tikka 22-250 for certain thus far and being able to shooting 100 yards and shoot the loads I just worked up on the bench at 99 yards in the yard is pretty nice these days now that its suppressed.

Well I loaded up the same load as #1 above and shot 5 more the following day. Looks to be repeatable accuracy. So I will take it.

#1 and #5 are both right at the lands and both well under 1/2 MOA for 5 shots..."that oughta do donkey" So loaded up 65 more at that load...next time out will be flinging them to 1K I hope.
