I drew an antelope B tag after a 5 year drought. Unit 330, includes the Red Rocks wildlife refuge.

We will be hunting 330 again this season. My wife and I have been hunting and fishing the Centennial Valley since the 1980's, now with our grandkids.

Good luck to all of you. Antelope make for great eating. Everyone in my group got a WY tag. Daughter #3 and her hubby won't be coming, though, as they spent their vacation on honeymoon in Italy. Grandparents, daughters, one son-in-law, one significant other, two grandkids, hunting buddy plus his wife and kid. Eleven people, 4 hunters without Daughter #3 and her hubby, 5 doe tags among us, 2-1/2 days to fill them. We're going to own a wing of the motel.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Drew one up here north of the medicine line.
I'm always confused 😃 but pretty sure will be carrying a 257 caliber... either a 25/06 Husqvarna that I've owned for 40 years. Or a Savage 99 in 250. Winner either way

Rifle loony confusion is difficult to overcome--but can be done. Often it involves standing in front of the safe and closing your eyes, turning slowly 360 degrees, and grabbing one....

We got drawn too. Headed east. Hopefully we can combine with cow tag hunt. I think I will go with muledeer's approach and do the old blind grab. Choices can be too difficult. I will literally loose sleep over it sheesh.

I own two rifles that I haven't seen yet, both bought from the classifieds here. I'm really tempted to take one of them. 😎 The Newton does have a certain panach...

Or my dad's old 99 in 300 Savage...... oops I forgot an 'obsolete' , ill suited choice couldn't possibly kill a modern antelope 😉
The blind grab might be the best alternative

John,
What scope do you have on the .256?
Just curious. Have taken antelope with scopes from 2.5x to 14x, and they all worked....

Buck and a doe.
Should I go suppressed and take both out of one herd?
Or old school and use the Krag?
Maybe meet in the middle and use the 03-A3?
God this life is stressful.

After looking like an idiot trying to stalk and ambush on a near featureless prairie with my bow before rifle opens, I will then be using my boring Savage 22-250 with 60gr partition over a boring load of 35gr Varget. Backup for windy conditions is an ordinary Savage 6.5 Creed with 140gr Nosler btip over an unremarkable load of 40gr H100V.
Antelope is the only time I use sticks instead of bipod.
Flave, Krag is my vote!
Good luck everybody!
