I was once asked to sing tenor... Was welding inside the induced draft fan housing on a boiler in Mt Storm, West Virginia. Had my stuff all the way up at the top level and was up there all one day and well into the next. I often sing when I'm alone and was doing my best on that day. Really belting it out. On the second afternoon I heard someone come in the manway below me, but I kept on singing. Saw the rope wiggle as he tied his gear on and then heard him start the climb. "Uncle Fred" was the black sheep, who traveled around doing Honky Tonk back in the 30s, 40s and 50s... Running Moonshine etc, in VA, WVa, Maryland & North Carolina... Rumor had it, old Fred fathered about 20 to 25 children out of Wedlock...
