This is an entertaining read of about 115 one page stories of unusual events/relationships/happenstances, etc. of American history. Some are amusing, some tragic but overall quite a good read.
And it's easy to put it down and then resume reading as each page is its own story.

An example is a story about Paul Revere's grandson. Another about Lincoln's prophetic dream. And there's John Rowland who had a 'poor' service record during the Civil War, so bad in fact, that he change his name later to Henry M.Stanley and went to Africa and found a man and uttered the famous words, "Dr. Stanley, I presume?".

There are five sections: Early America; The Civil War; The White House; The West; and The Twentieth Century.

I found it as remaindered/reprinted at Barnes and Noble.
