Has anyone here hunted Colorado unit 10 during early rifle for elk before? I pulled the golden ticket this year by drawing this tag and would like to gain any insight anyone may have.
I've scouted the crap out of the unit so far this summer and want to uncover every detail I can before the season gets underway. Thanks

I'd like to hunt it just so I could go there. Looks like a very cool area to explore.

It is suppose to be better than Unit 201.PM me and I will given you the name of vetrinarian here in COS that had a tag two years ago. Heck of big bull he got. I'd bet he would give you the info you are looking for freely. He did say one thing to me. He had mules and he said he had to go pretty far back in and get around checker boarded private land.Get some land status maps ASAP.
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles

That entire north west corner of the state is a hidden gem of Colorado. 5 preference points gets you in the hybrid draw for the limited units... Saddlesore, I'll follow up with a PM. I've been up there all summer and spent quite a bit of time up there a few years back doing field work for school but I'll never feel that I'm 100% prepared for this. And correct you are that being able to navigate the public private checkerboard is a key consideration of the unit.

It is. Not what you think of being typical Colorado elk country. It's worth spending time there even if you are t hunting on of those units.
