Folks:
Do any of y'all have any pictures of captured Federal Fusion bullets (i.e., taken out of game)? I'm wondering what expansion looks like since I don't seem to be able to capture any Deep Curls, i.e., same bullet, different base.
Thanks
RM

I have yet to capture one. Several hogs and a couple of whitetails have been sacrificed in my quest, but so far the bullet gods have not cooperated. Oh, and things tend to die very quickly when you shoot them with one. Ed

I've smoked several deer, coyotes, foxes, and one bobcat with the 62 grain MSR fusion from AR's and bolt .223's. I've yet to stop one. It's to be expected on the predators. The deer were all shoulder shots at 100 yards or less and passed through at least one shoulder. It looks like they open pretty well on the predators. Seems to be a tough bullet that digs while still opening well in the 62 grain version.

Bet they wouldn't stink from a 22-250 either.

I've caught 3 of them. These two are from my son's .243 win,95 grain fusions. One on the right is from a deer shot at 75 yards caught under the off side scapula and the one on the left from about 225-240 yards shot through the shoulder and found under the hide by the short ribs. The rest of the deer he's killed with that combo have been pass throughs. The other one from a .308 win using 180 grain fusions on a large bodied buck at just over 300 yards. Again a hard quartering to shot on the point of the shoulder found under the hide of the offside rib cage. Bob.

Here is a 150 gr fired from a 30-06, found it in a mature whitetail buck while skinning him out. Distance was about 40 Yds. Weights 129 grns. Shot a doe last year with the same load, didnt recover the bullet.

Thanks, guys; that's exactly what I was looking for. Beretzs, those Deep Curls are picture-perfect.
Thanks again.

Very interesting. I got a couple hundred 338 200 grain Fusion bullets. I was wondering if the 338 Win would push them too fast.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I'd keep those 200's at 2,900fps or so and get after it. Should be ruthless on deer-sized stuff. I know the 200gr NBT is at that speed.
Now with even more aplomb

I have one 150 grain 270 found. Pictures look very similar to this 30/30. Just picture perfect with petals peeled back, plenty of base left with great retention. Photobucket picture though,so not working. Mine traveled full length of a 160 lb whitetail,at about 40 yards. Entered front shoulder brisket, busted shoulder and exited lower gut, reentered hind leg and broke bone, lodging in the lower leg. GREAT FACTORY LOADED BULLET!

Those of you handloading these: do they prefer a bit of a run to the lands, or do they do fine right up next to them? I'm working up some 165's for a 30-30 Contender.

Never captured one, but I know when they've been around by the dead deer.
