Lost 'luggage'..... it's the dreaded peril of air travel.

Well, one of them anyway.

Yesterday it happened.

My 7th bag arrived after being bumped 8 days ago. (We flew Aug. 9)

It gained 6 pounds along the way and lost 4.

It finally got on board an aircraft on the 14th, five days after it was originally bumped.

Rainwater must be heavy when applied for enough time.

'Opening' the bottom through rough handling can be helpful for draining excess weight.

When in doubt, freeze the luggage. eek I guess.

Electric and battery powered tools can be amazingly resilient.

Best of luck in flying meat and fish out of the boonies this fall! smile

However, I think I was probably hosed by an alcohol factor. I have to give the company people much credit for looking into rabbit holes before the rabbit -my luggage- was actually set loose (by the negligent village agent. The 'tale of the text' is revealing. eek )

If you were hosed by an alcohol factor maybe you should stop drinking!

laugh Never been sicker than I was many years ago when I tried to save her and her siblings from a portion of their stash, a stash which I didn't realize had a very deep bottom. sick (But her tolerance has only increased, while the stuff killed her dad and sharply curbed my "recreational" use of it.) smile

Thanks. I'm all sniveled out now, especially after whining to the company (whose president's name sounds rather like one of Edward Abbey's fictional characters. wink ) But anyhow, perhaps there is a lesson here about baggage left behind in the smaller points in Alaska. If you must, make sure you contact the company agent in the hub you travel through to not only let them know that another bag is due (I did) but also follow up to make sure it gets on a later flight. (I waited on that part longer than I should have.)
