Have an opportunity to purchase a Browning xbolt carbon fiber fluted 270, shot show special. Really like the looks and feel of it but not sure it's worth the asking price and there is very little info on them on the web. Any insight on them and what they are worth would be great.

The original MSRP was $1000 - $1170 for the blue, depending on caliber, and $1270 - $1330 for stainless. I havent' owned that model, but x-bolts are great rifles.

Thanks, this one is stainless. He's dead set on $1000. Seemed high but maybe not.

Isn't the "carbon fiber" just paint?

I know initially it was just a dip to look like carbon fiber. They now have a genuine carbon fiber stock available but I don't remember the model name.

The real carbon fiber stocked X-Bolt is the X-Bolt Pro:
X-Bolt Pro

But of course, they want almost $2k for those, if I could find one for $1k I'd be on it in a heart beat.

What the OP showed a picture of is basically a version of the X-Bolt Stainless Stalker with a carbon fiber pattern dip on the stock.

Personally, I'd skip the tacky paint and just get a regular Stainless Stalker for less:

Grabagun SS X-Bolt $888

I have one in .30-06, and it's an excellent hunting rifle.

The X-Bolts are GREAT rifles. My daughter shoots a Micro Midas in 7mm-08. Its VERY accurate and well made. The Featherlight Trigger is very good. If you want lighter than 4lb pull, JARD makes a great "drop-in" trigger for the X-Bolt.

IF it was my $$, I would buy a NEW Hell's canyon Speed in 6.5 Creedmoor.

For a used X-Bolt, maybe $700.

Thanks, just picked up a speed in 300wsm. The 270 came up locally and piqued my interest. Think I'll pass on it given the advice off of here. Thanks again.

At one time I really wanted one of the X Bolt carbon fiber rifles but in the end I got the regular Stainless stalker in 30-06 for some of the reasons stated above. Excellent rifle, hard to beat the quality.
