This, providing they match the velocity envelope of the cartridge. Dunno that either would be advisable if you're launching them at STW/RUM/Mashburn/28 Nosler speeds and taking close shots.

FWIW, my experience is that the 154 Interlock is a gem at 7x57 speeds.

Both are capable much further than that but it depends on you, not the bullet or cartridge....

Hornady 140 GMX in 7mm-08 worked fine for me @275 yards on a nice 5x5 bull elk this year. First shot was in the diaphragm, second in the neck; both pass-throughs. Total distanced traveled = 10 yards. Probably not an optimal caliber selection at that distance on a bull but it worked.

Which ever shoots better for you, but both will do just fine.

I killed a spike a couple of years ago with a single 140 Partition from my Tikka 7mm-08, 346 yards. He went down so fast I thought I missed.

Two years before that I killed a 4x4 with the same load, but only 68 yards. Same result.

2870 fps at the muzzle.

Haven't killed an Elk with it yet, but I chose the 140 grain NP @ 2760 out of my 18" barreled Ruger 7MM-08.

Wish I could find an accurate load for my 7-08 using the 140 Nosler. Very good bullets but hard to find an accurate load, for me anyway!

In 7MM I recommend any bullet that weighs 140 grains or more, that holds it weight at least 60% on impact. If all else fails you can't go wrong with a 160 or 175 Gr Nosler partition. I have also used the 175 gr Hornadys and they were great..

Why would anyone use a 175 in a 7-08?

Why not, the 7x57 and 175's is one of the classic heavy game loads. It would work just as well out of a 7mm-08 and should get around 2600 fps or better.

Gerry beat me to it.
I had a 7X57 and I used the 175s to great satisfaction. Wonderful load for killing big game. The 7-08 is ballisticly about the same so if the 175 will fit (some mags may be short) it will do the same job.
