Under cover of darkness of course. If what they are doing is SO righteous, then why do they do it in the middle of the night? Austin, of course. They won't find much resistance there... As of 3 a.m. Monday morning, all three Confederate statues had been removed. A fourth statue of former Texas Gov. James Hogg was also removed, leaving George Washington’s statue alone on the South Mall. http://kxan.com/2017/08/20/overnigh...ues-from-ut-ordered-by-president-fenves/Ironically, the statues were moved to the Briscoe Center. It's ironic because Doplph Briscoe was a long serving democrat governor of Texas. He said the statues depicting Robert E. Lee, Albert Sidney Johnston, John Reagan and James Stephen Hogg are now being removed from the Main Mall. The statues of Lee, Johnston and Reagan will be added to the collection of the Briscoe Center. Those statues depicted four confederate figures, including Jefferson Davis whose statue was removed from the main mall in 2015 and later put on display at the Briscoe Center. The Briscoe Center is home to one of the largest historical collections related to the South, the Civil War, and Slavery. I hope the statues are protected there. I feel they are safer there, than on a campus of snowflakes.

In south Austin somebody spray painted over the street signs on Robert E. Lee Street. Others posted signs down there thanking the vandals for a job well done.

Most colleges are nothing but liberal cesspools. It seems that Texas is not exempt.

t.u. is not a very good representation of Texas, just saying. I'd love to see a vote taken- I bet north of 70% would say to leave them. Austin is basically Cal-Berkeley West

It should be no surprise that any university in any state removes statues. We all realize that these places of "higher learning" are petri dishes of socialist thought. The same can be said for any city of sufficient population that has democrats as city council members. i consider statue a removal a "twofer" - to punish POTUS and to expunge a physical reminder of US hisotry. Its all very predictable.

And I heard someone painted the MLK signs too....would only be right.
This chit is getting old. My tolerant mother is even pissed.
But Barry hit it, if it needs to go, why do they do it at night? And why are all the supporters that want them gone wearing masks and bandanas?
But hey, its UT, don't expect anything else from them at all. Bunch of looser liberals.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Sure seems to be a lot of Yankees in the south these days. I think out of roughly 8 homes that sold in my neighborhood in the past year only one is populated by a North Carolinian. A few are populated by New Yawkers but they must be from the state since they drive pickup trucks.

Charlottsville and the current flap is the "alt-Russian collusion" narrative. The incident at a Virginia baseball field has been long forgotten.

It's Austin, Jorge. The only nice thing about Austin is that it's close to Texas. As 30incher posted, it's really Cal-Berkely, Jr. There are really only three liberal enclaves in Texas, in order of putridity; 1. Austin 2. Dallas Metro area 3. Houston The rest of the state is pretty much conservative and damned proud of it. Ed

Are there ANY state capitols that aren't liberal nests these days?
If there is, I don't know of one. Maybe Salt Lake City?

I am fully aware it's Austin and full of commies. The point is, it's still Texas and I don't see anybody in an uproar down there. The big test comes next month in Richmond...

There was a big article in the local liberal rag here yesterday about a confederate monument on the square here. I'm sure the commies were disappointed their poll didn't go their way... How do you feel about the Confederate soldier statue in DeLeon Plaza?
Poll Results:
It’s about history. 580 votes (65%)
It's offensive and promotes racism. 57(6%)
I have mixed feelings. 35(4%)
It doesn't bother me. 141(16%) . I'm betting a poll of the entire U.S would go much the same way, with about 5-6% fining anything offensive about any confederate statue or monument. I'm sick and tired of a very small majority of people imposing their will on the rest of us...

The big test comes next month in Richmond... The BIG test will be Stone Mountain Mike I don't think so. Stone Mountain is DEEP in Dixie, whereas the Lee Statue is in Richmond. VA might have been the seat of the Confederacy, but nowadays it's just another yankee state.
