My luck here on the Campfire has run out. After many Free Classifieds buy and sell transactions that have gone smooth as silk, philip35 has scammed me for $475. He posted an ad for a scoped Magnum Research 10/22 in July. When he dropped his price to $475 shipped, I sent him a PM on July 14th stating "All the FFL's in my part of Florida refuse to accept shipments from private sellers. If you are willing to ship FFL to FFL, I will take it at $475. Thanks." His response was "That's fine my brother is FFL". We then exchanged Information (including the name, address and telephone number of the local FFL who would be accepting the shipment and transferring the rifle to me), discussed form of payment and finalized the deal. Mailed him a check and on July 21, he acknowledge that the funds had cleared. He never shipped the rifle and on August 2, he announced via text that "I was gonna get a refund" because I was annoying him with requests for status on the shipment. Also texted "Refund in the mail tomorrow". He never sent the refund and on August 14, I texted him that I was going to expose his dishonesty on the Campfire. True to form he responded "You blast me on 24hour and you'll never see your money, POST THAT!!" I responded that he was a thief that needs to be exposed and he changed his tune, said that he would go to the Post Office on Friday, August 18th, purchase money orders and get them in the mail to me. Here it is a week later, the mail has been delivered, there is nothing from philip35, and he has not responded to a text. Gotta conclude that he is just another lying thief. There's a lot more to the story, but I can sum it up by saying that philip35 responds with aggression and insults when he is asked for information or reminded of his obligations. He is clearly someone you want to avoid.

Sorry to hear that buddy. You have his cell number? Post it up and I'll drop it in a few places to keep his phone ringing off the hook. You may be out 475 but he'll need to change his number before the weekend is over

Really sorry to hear that. I've done tons of transactions both here and on AR and only had a problem once with a jerkoff who completely misrepresented an expensive custom rifle and I had to get an attorney involved to get my money back and was still out a couple of hundred bucks. Fortunately, these types of dishonest azzholes seem to be rare. I hope you get your money back from this thief.

Just bundle up all the email correspondence and get it to the Local Law enforcement where he's at.

It's funny how they are suprised when the cops show up and mean business.

So, who is philip35? Names, addresses, phone numbers at times work miracles!

Doesn't matter, he's done. Hasn't logged in for over 3 weeks, and over a month since a post. He's done flown the coop, and moved on to other forums to fleece.

FWIW, I had a problem several years ago with purchasing a rifle stock. Googled the individual enough to figure out where he worked. Called his employer and spoke with the owner explaining the situation and that neither of us wanted to get the local law enforcement involved. Owner said he would speak with his employee. Within an hour I had an email and 2 days later the stock arrived.

You can contact the US Postal Service. They take cases like this very seriously. I've only had one problem here out of many many transactions. 1 phone call to the local police force of my problem seller and I soon had results. Sorry to hear of your misfortune as so many here are good honest people.
