Hi guys and girls I'm new to this form and it's my first post so any help is appreciated.
I recently order my first custom rifle, and am waiting for its delivery. Apparently now it's become an addiction and I'm looking to have a 416 rigby made.
I'm hoping to build it off a Mauser action and have been looking at GMA, Prechtl and Saterlee. Is there a comprehensive list of Mauser action manufactures available? I'm pretty keen on a German made action or North American.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcom... I have no experience wit anything other than run of the mill stuff....I looked into a Mauser clone from a guy in South Dakota....it was nice but way too much money for me as you could have a pre 64 action for half.... I seriously doubt those would shoot any better than a husky or FN... But if I were to build a 1 off heirloom quality piece that would be different..

Add Fanzoj (FZH) and Hartmann & Weiss (both German) to the list and prepare to pay.

The easiest ones to find and one of the easiest to make a custom rifle with are the various iterations of the Interarms Mark X actions. They were made in a number of bolt face sizes and several action lengths.
A few years back, a poster here on the campfire posted a comprehensive list of Mauser actions and their specifications. I copied it and saved it as a Word file, but I could not turn up the post using the campfire search engine. If you will PM me with your email address, I will send it to you in an email as an attachment.

Duane Wiebe will tell you that most of those actions will come to you raw, meaning they will have to be smithed for the cartridge you choose. However, the Saterlee will come to you smithed for the cartridge you have chosen.

LoL,...Thats if a Satterlee ever arrives in the first place...the guy is a chronic lying POS headache to deal with.
22WRF, after all these years of you blowing hot wind, have you ever put your cash down on a Satterlee?

What about a economy CZ 550? Its pretty much 98, and a hell of a lot cheaper and off the shelf.

Gunmaker ,
are you denying or defending Satterlees terrible history of unscrupulous business principles?
A business cannot behave like that for so damn long and then not expect their history to follow them.
Does he even make the .416 Rigby size action anymore?
I suspect you are emotionally involved and your judgement distorted because the guy is your friend. If you are going to come here and bat for him, Im not sure how good that is going to be for your own reputation.

A business can't survive for, as you put it "so damn long" without making a great product with many happy clients. Stuart makes a great action/rifle. Pretty sure he still makes Rigby sized ones. Are you one of his clients?

I bought a Magnum receiver from Satterlie. He shipped after my check cleared. Excellent workmanship. You should also know that JRGunmaker could be the premier custom gunmaker in the USA. also
